ASRC Federal Advanced Research LLC (AFAR) is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our Enterprise Information Display System (E-IDS) team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This is a full-time on-site position at the William J Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace (WJHTCAA).
The FAA's Enterprise Information Display System (E-IDS) is a modernized, enterprise-level platform and display developed in-house to replace multiple legacy Information Display Systems (IDSs) in over 500 air traffic control facilities. It provides static and real-time consolidated data to controllers, including weather, airport runway status/visibility, maps, and facility directives aimed at improving efficiency.
Citizenship Requirement
All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance.
Relocation Requirement
Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Egg Harbor Township, NJ.
Education & Experience Requirement
All non-US Degrees must have a US Equivalency Certificate provided by the candidate.

Citizenship Requirement

- Bachelors degree highly desired, OR

- A minimum of 2 years of experience in this specific technical area that is pertinent to the support of the National Airspace System (NAS).
- This experience must have demonstrated the ability to acquire and present technical information through independent reading, interviews with subject matter experts, observation of tests and experiments, interpretation of blueprints or diagrams, or other appropriate methods. Such experience may have been acquired as a writer or editor of technical reports, articles, manuals, or specifications.
- Ability to describe information in simple, clear language is required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in Visio, Adobe Acrobat, and configuration management applications are highly desired.
- Direct experience performing technical writing or editing is desired.
- Three (3) or six (6) years of experience is required.
- NAS experience is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in:
- English language and grammar.
- Describing information in simple, clear language.
- Analytical/organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Technical documentation development and maintenance. This includes the ability to organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to:
- Work independently, as well as a team, in a fast-paced environment.
- Navigate complex workflows; research and problem solve; willingness to learn/try new things.
- Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication with computer scientists, engineers, project personnel and technical leads, as well as varying levels of management and customers.
Essential Daily Job Duties
- Interview production and engineering personnel to gather information and develop documentation.
- Review technical materials to build product knowledge and maintain organized records of work and revisions.
- Conduct high-level research to support the creation and improvement of technical documents.
- Develop, edit, and produce technical directives, manuals, specifications, and templates.
- Write and format engineering content tailored to diverse audiences and unique technical requirements.
- Track, analyze, and validate documentation to ensure compliance with FAA policies and procedures.
- Support creation and upkeep of user training materials, procedure documents, and documentation templates.
- Assist with documentation workflows, including distribution for review, processing dispositions, final implementation, and additional tasks to meet team deadlines.
