ASRC Federal is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to support the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA). This position is responsible for administering, maintaining, and modernizing enterprise Windows Server, virtualization, cloud, storage, and collaboration environments supporting applications critical to DoWEA's global mission. This position is fully remote.

The Senior Systems Administrator will work closely with government stakeholders, application owners, vendors, and cross-functional technical teams to maintain system availability, resolve service-impacting issues, implement approved changes, and ensure the continued security, reliability, and performance of the enterprise environment.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, Azure cloud resources, Windows Server infrastructure, enterprise virtualization platforms, storage systems, identity and access management solutions, and backup and recovery technologies supporting mission-critical operations.
  • Lead enterprise infrastructure modernization initiatives involving virtualization, cloud adoption, disaster recovery, automation, platform lifecycle management, and service optimization while providing technical direction to engineers, administrators, project stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional support teams.
  • Perform Active Directory administration, Group Policy management, DNS, DHCP, PKI certificate management, authentication services, and enterprise identity solutions.
  • Administer enterprise storage and SAN solutions, including integration with server, virtualization, backup, and disaster recovery platforms.
  • Administer and support enterprise backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery solutions, including planning, testing, validation, and operational readiness activities.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell and other approved technologies to improve operational efficiency, standardization, and service delivery.
  • Review security findings, vulnerability assessments, and compliance requirements; implement remediation actions and system hardening activities in accordance with DoD, DoWEA, and organizational cybersecurity standards.
  • Provide Tier III escalation support for complex infrastructure, application, virtualization, storage, cloud, and Microsoft 365 service issues.
  • Administer and maintain enterprise DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (IPAM) services, including integration with network, virtualization, and cloud environments.
  • Prepare, submit, implement, and document change requests in accordance with established change management processes and maintenance procedures.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, outage planning, change implementation, and post-change validation during approved maintenance windows.
  • Utilize enterprise monitoring, alerting, and management platforms to proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve service-impacting issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, implementation plans, operational procedures, architecture diagrams, change requests, and knowledge base articles in accordance with ITIL-based service management processes.
  • Provide regular status reporting, metrics, and executive summaries to support program and operational oversight on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Coordinate with application owners, vendors, and technical stakeholders to support application deployment, upgrades, integration, troubleshooting, and operational sustainment activities.
  • Provide technical mentorship and knowledge transfer to junior administrators and engineering staff as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • At least five years of experience administering Windows Server systems in an enterprise environment.
  • At least five years of experience administering VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualization technologies in an enterprise environment.
  • At least one year of experience managing SAN or enterprise storage solutions and their integration with network and virtualization platforms.
  • Experience designing, installing, troubleshooting, administering, and maintaining systems supporting critical applications.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related Microsoft enterprise technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with cross-functional technical teams and subject matter experts to resolve complex issues.
  • Experience preparing and managing change requests through formal review and approval processes.
  • Strong technical documentation, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a mission-focused government environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline, or equivalent.
  • Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Entra ID, and related collaboration technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, hybrid-cloud architectures, Azure VMware Solution (AVS), and Azure Site Recovery (ASR).
  • Experience administering VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and virtual infrastructure lifecycle management.
  • Experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions such as Avamar, Data Domain, Commvault, Veeam, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting, infrastructure automation, and configuration management.
  • Experience with Infoblox DNS, DHCP, and IPAM administration.
  • Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), certificate lifecycle management, and secure authentication technologies.
  • Experience with ServiceNow and ITIL-based incident, problem, change, and configuration management processes.
  • Familiarity with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), STIG implementation, cybersecurity compliance, and vulnerability remediation activities.
  • Experience supporting DoD enterprise systems and highly available mission-critical environments.
  • Previous experience supporting DoD systems, applications, or infrastructure environments.

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
