Job Description

Duties

  • Serves as Senior Information Technology (IT) Specialist, Virtualization Systems Administrator and Analyst in the Systems Management Branch for the United States Army Regional Cyber Center-Korea.
  • Provides analysis, planning, design, installation, configuration, integration, testing, evaluation, implementation, and management of the systems environment in support of the organization's IT systems engineering technologies and business needs.
  • Directly responsible for the operations and maintenance of hardware (compute, network, storage), virtualized servers, and hosted applications on a converged architecture.
  • Directly responsible for the systems integration and server administration, availability, integrity, and recoverability of the back-end infrastructure consisting of a virtual machine software.
  • Identifies and defines business or technical requirements applied to the design; develops, implements, manages, and supports systems and networks; and evaluates proposals for the acquisition and maintenance of IT products or services.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • A pre-employment and recurring background investigation may include contact with all references, employers, co-workers, personal associates, and a review of driving record, credit history, criminal history, and military service are required.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.
  • In crisis or wartime, the incumbent must continue duties supporting combat operations or essential systems after mobilization or evacuation. The role may also require added training, medical readiness, and deployment responsibilities.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position may require you to work other than regular duty hours, which may include shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage during evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and in other situations.

  • Current Civilian Employees of the Organization Applying to Cyber Excepted Service (CES) Positions

**Organization is defined as current, permanent ARCYBER/NETCOM employees only.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Applicant must have on year of directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by leading the management and upkeep of virtualization systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization of infrastructure; managing and maintaining cloud-based environments, including application packaging, server migration, and resolving platform-level issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability; and guiding policy development for system requirements and ensures consistent oversight of theater network bandwidth and connections.

My specialized experience includes, or was supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:

(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.

(2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: resolving routine and non-routine problems, questions, or complaints; developing and maintaining strong, mutually supportive working relationships with customers; conducting evaluation of support to determine quality of services and customer satisfaction, and recommending procedural changes based on customer need or changes in policy and/or regulation.

(3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: convincingly conveying complex information to customers; presenting thoughts that are well-organized and demonstrating confidence in the facts and ideas; adjusting style when working with individuals with different levels of understanding; using various methods to explain and convey information.

(4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: solving complex or sensitive problems by developing and proposing strategic alternatives; identifying possible conflicts and shared benefits; helping team anticipate problems and identifying and evaluating potential sources of information; providing feedback and coaching to others to help solve problems; engaging appropriate stakeholders when developing solutions in order to understand and incorporate multiple perspectives and needs; evaluating the effectiveness of decisions and adjusting future decisions as appropriate.
