Job Description

We are seeking a Configuration Lead to support a restricted-access facility in Alice Springs, Australia.

This is a key support position reporting to the Configuration Supervisor, helping to lead a multi-skilled team that plans, develops, and delivers system and infrastructure configuration changes across critical facilities. That work spans electrical systems, cabling — including fiber routing and termination — power management, and the space and cooling required to keep mission-critical operations running.
The role blends leadership with technical depth: you will carry supervisory responsibilities while staying hands-on with electrical infrastructure, cable routing, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Support the Configuration Supervisor in managing, overseeing, and controlling critical-infrastructure configuration activities and their documentation, keeping work aligned with change-management practices and industry standards.
• Help oversee the facility infrastructure being delivered to the Operations building.
• Perform hands-on electrical work — installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems — including cable routing, fiber termination, and infrastructure testing and optimization.
• Assist in controlling critical-infrastructure configuration and its associated documentation, ensuring change-management practices are followed.
• Supervise an assigned team, taking responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, scheduling, training, mentoring, and managing both resources and performance.
• Plan and coordinate programs, activities, systems, and equipment, and execute and administer the tasks that support critical-infrastructure management and change.
• Review proposed changes to facility infrastructure and systems and provide technical advice, from early concepts through to detailed Issued-for-Construction (IFC) designs.
• Support the integration, coordination, compilation, and communication of technical information, recommendations, and advice relating to facility infrastructure, systems, and equipment.
• Prepare, develop, update, and manage documentation covering the facility's standard configuration.
• Uphold workplace health and safety by championing safety-awareness initiatives, discussions, and training, fostering a safety-focused culture, and taking part in and reviewing risk assessments.
• Report on power and cooling requirements so the Configuration Supervisor stays informed of the facility's infrastructure needs and deliverables.
• Review planned works and oversee changes to facility infrastructure.
• Take accountability for the team's effective operation, including overseeing and executing critical system configuration changes while maintaining high service standards.
• Ensure the configuration-management function is delivered in a way that maximizes equipment availability while minimizing mission risk.

Required Qualifications

• A Journeyman/Master Electricians License
• Project management and planning experience, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
• Configuration-management experience.
• Experience with power generation and distribution, load management, and data-centre / critical-power systems.
• Experience with building management and control systems.
• Field experience with a strong background in communications cabling and troubleshooting.
• Ability to obtain ACMA Open Cabling registration with endorsements — optical fiber, structured cable, and coaxial.
• Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail.
• Analytical ability to assess technical and project impacts.
• Capability to lead and facilitate cross-functional processes.
• A technical background in engineering design, systems engineering, or production.

Desired Qualifications

• BICSI or comparable cabling design-and-install certification (highly desirable).
• HVAC experience.
