Job Description
We are seeking a HVAC Technician to support a facility in Alice Springs, Australia.
As the HVAC Technician, you will maintain and repair the equipment that makes up the site's HVAC infrastructure. This work covers — but is not limited to — large chillers, DX refrigeration units, chilled-water cooling systems, residential air-conditioning systems, and the air-conditioning systems fitted to the site's vehicle fleet. The scope spans minor and major repairs, routine servicing, and, where required, full replacement of equipment.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Carry out maintenance tasks as required, whether scheduled servicing or repairs.
• Take on project-based work on an ad hoc basis as it arises.
• Plan the tools, equipment, additional labor, and materials needed to complete each task.
• Coordinate with others to schedule and communicate the work to be performed.
• Keep equipment maintained, as far as practicable, so that it operates safely.
• Report any incidents to Management through the chain of command as a matter of priority.
• Use computer systems to log and schedule work tasks.
• Support other areas of Facilities Maintenance as needed — including, but not limited to, high-voltage switching and cleaning of mechanical spaces and workshops.
• Comply with all of the site's environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Perform other reasonable duties as requested.
Essential Criteria
• Familiarity with a technical work environment and its terminology.
• Knowledge of the correct storage, handling, and disposal procedures for refrigerants.
• A relevant trade certificate or license.
• Demonstrated experience developing processes and procedures.
• Ability to foster and drive a positive team culture.
• Strong communication skills.
• A current driver's license.
Physical Requirements
Personnel must be medically fit to perform, and safely complete, all physical tasks associated with the role. Although the position is largely sedentary, the technician must remain able to safely access the relevant work areas and carry out the required tasks without adverse impact to their own health and wellbeing.
Security Clearance Requirement
Obtaining and retaining the security and medical clearances applicable to the role is a condition of employment. This role requires a TS/SCI with CI polygraph.
