Job Description
We are seeking an Electrician to join a multi-skilled trades team supporting a facility in Alice Springs, Australia.
The Electrician works as an integral member of a multi-skilled trades team, keeping the site's facility infrastructure and mission-critical systems running safely and reliably. The role delivers professional technical repair and maintenance across all assigned facility infrastructure equipment, and takes part in the planning, coordination, scheduling, training, mentoring, and resource management that underpin day-to-day facility upkeep.
The Electrician is accountable for identifying and completing maintenance tasks efficiently and on time while sustaining a high standard of service. Repairs and maintenance are carried out in a way that maximizes both productivity and equipment reliability.
As part of a compact team of experienced tradespeople, the Electrician helps maintain the many system components and pieces of equipment that support both mission activity and routine business operations, and responds to unplanned repairs as they arise. The role calls for a mindset of continuous improvement — backing new initiatives and technical advances — along with the resourcefulness to solve problems on the spot and finish assigned work to a high standard.
Working closely with the Facilities Operations team, fellow maintainers, and other site departments, the Electrician helps establish and uphold best-practice standards that keep facility systems operating reliably and consistently. The position is central to the wider Operations & Maintenance (O&M) effort and collaborates with all facility O&M personnel to deliver high-quality services.
Essential Responsibilities
• Operate and maintain the facility's infrastructure, systems, and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair faults — for example by replacing burned-out elements, fuses, and defective wiring — and clean and service electric motors. Test electrical equipment such as motors, heaters, and controls to confirm safe operation.
• Respond quickly and dependably to abnormal operating conditions and emergencies, carrying out equipment repairs as needed.
• Coordinate and communicate with peers to drive standardization, shared coverage, and ongoing individual and team development.
• Track and help keep current technical drawings, panel schedules, and equipment operating procedures.
• Maintain a thorough, up-to-date working knowledge of all relevant facility infrastructure, equipment, and systems.
• Complete job-related paperwork accurately and on time — including work orders, timesheets, and safety reports — and transcribe information from paper work orders into digital systems.
• Install new electrical equipment and infrastructure as requested.
• Perform other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications
Essential
• Solid working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act and applicable EHS policies and procedures.
• Proven experience within facility maintenance or a comparable technical environment.
• Strong command of technical terminology relating to electrical infrastructure and electronic equipment.
• Sound understanding of facility equipment and how it functions.
• Sound understanding of facility O&M requirements.
• Sound understanding of equipment maintenance disciplines — preventive, predictive, and corrective.
• Familiarity with 110V (U.S.) power, or a willingness to learn it.
• Capacity to build understanding across adjacent technical areas such as high voltage and power generation.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical ability.
Desirable
• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems (e.g., SAP, Archibus).
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong general computer skills.
• Industrial electrical experience.
• Power distribution experience.
• Familiarity with industrial control circuits.
• Familiarity with variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Tickets and Licenses
Essential
• Journeyman's License.
• Candidates from Arizona must hold and maintain a U.S. state Contractor's License.
• Low Voltage Rescue.
Desirable
• Working at Heights.
• First Aid / CPR.
• Forklift Licence.
• Elevated Work Platform.
• Confined Space.
Experience
• Four years of post-trade experience.
• Experience across a broad range of power distribution equipment is highly regarded.
Physical Requirements
Personnel must be medically fit to perform, and safely complete, all physical tasks associated with the role. This includes — but is not limited to — carrying and controlling moderate to heavy loads and safely moving through and accessing maintenance environments that may be uneven or confined.
