Job Description

Duties

  • Monitor critical operations worldwide, delivering reliable and comprehensive data to support the deployment and redeployment of combat assets.
  • Monitor and track movements using multiple computer-based systems. (i.e., Single Mobility System (SMS), Marine Traffic, and In-transit Visibility (ITV).
  • Assist the Battle Captain in support of the Chief, SDDC Command Operation and Integration Center (COIC).
  • Ensure all data received effecting daily operations is provided to the Battle Captain.
  • Communicate in real time with United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), major Army commands and combatant commands as well as transportation brigades, battalions, and detachments.
  • Recommend courses of action to the Battle Captain or subordinate brigades, and other appropriate staff elements during emergencies, contingencies, and operations.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This is a Temporary position intended not to exceed eight 8 months.
  • This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Monitoring critical operations worldwide, delivering reliable and comprehensive data to support the deployment and redeployment of combat assets.; 2) Utilizing Transportation Information Systems (i.e. Single Mobility System (SMS), Marine Traffic, and In-Transit (ITV)) to track, analyze, and manage cargo movements.; and 3) Applying Transportation Policies and Procedures to resolve conventional transportation issues, recommend courses of action, and ensure compliance with operational requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education : Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience : A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
