Job Description
This is a fully funded opening for a Azure Cloud Architect / Senior Cloud Engineer supporting a Department of Commerce Agency. Candidates need to have proven Azure migration experience in order to be considered.
**Interim or Active Secret clearance required**
**Location: 3-5 days on-site in Washington, DC - non-negotiable**
** Relocation: Open to candidates nationwide who are willing to relocate before their start date.**
Compensation (based on years of experience, qualifications, certifications, etc.):
Senior Cloud Engineer/Architect: Up to $230,000
Mid-Level Cloud Engineer: Up to $200,000
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, cloud architecture, or infrastructure modernization
Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure Government Cloud
Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Azure Well-Architected Framework
Hands-on expertise with:
Azure services and architecture
Terraform, Bicep, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Cloud networking and security
Automation and orchestration
Experience with:
Ansible
PowerShell DSC
Modern development tools and scripting languages
Strong understanding of FedRAMP, NIST, DISA STIGs, and CIS security standards
Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Cloud Engineers and Cloud Architects to support a large-scale cloud modernization effort for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). This role will focus on migrating, modernizing, securing, and optimizing mission-critical systems within Azure Government environments.
Key Responsibilities
Architect and implement secure, scalable Azure Government cloud solutions
Design cloud-native data platforms, analytics solutions, and data pipelines
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM templates, and Bicep
Establish and enforce Azure security best practices, including:
Azure AD
RBAC
Least-privilege access
Encryption and key management
NIST-compliant security controls
Apply DISA STIG and CIS benchmark standards across cloud environments
Lead architecture reviews, technical documentation, and cloud governance initiatives
Drive FinOps strategies to improve cost management and operational efficiency
Mentor engineering teams on Azure best practices and cloud-native architectures
Modernization Initiatives
Migrate NTIA's Unclassified Spectrum Management Systems to Azure Government
Migrate NTIA's Secret environment to Azure Secret Cloud
Improve security, administration, and operational resiliency of Spectrum IT systems
Modernize applications through configuration-level enhancements and cloud optimization
Transition eligible applications to Azure Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings
Re-platform applications that can leverage cloud-native Azure services
Rehost applications to Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) when PaaS is not feasible
Utilize the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Azure Well-Architected Framework to guide modernization efforts
Leverage the NTIA FSDS IL5 single-tenant Azure architecture to support secure government operations
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate combines deep Azure Government experience, strong infrastructure and security expertise, and a proven track record leading large-scale federal cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
