Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Sunnyvale, CA
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite
Salary Range: $119,000 - $162,000
Clearance Requirement: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join a cutting-edge engineering team developing advanced positioning, navigation, and timing solutions for mission-critical aerospace and defense applications. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize software for embedded and real-time systems where accuracy, reliability, and performance are essential.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to technology that directly supports aviation safety and other high-impact operational environments while working alongside highly skilled software, hardware, and firmware engineers.
What You'll Do
• Design and develop software for real-time and time-critical embedded systems.
• Create high-performance software for positioning, navigation, timing, and signal-processing applications.
• Develop solutions for embedded and resource-constrained hardware environments.
• Architect and implement modular, maintainable software solutions.
• Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, systems, and test engineering teams.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and verification.
• Optimize multi-threaded applications for performance and reliability.
• Support software quality, certification, and compliance activities.
• Contribute to structured development methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, and Iterative/Spiral development processes.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong experience developing embedded software using C++ and Embedded C.
• Experience designing software for embedded and real-time systems.
• Strong understanding of software development principles and lifecycle methodologies.
• Experience developing multi-threaded applications.
• Knowledge of operating systems and microprocessor architecture.
• Experience collaborating across software, hardware, and firmware disciplines.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with product testing and validation.
• Hardware verification experience.
• Device driver development experience.
• Familiarity with configuration management tools.
• Experience with Python development.
• Exposure to aerospace, defense, avionics, communications, or other highly regulated industries.
