Barbaricum is seeking a seasoned media analyst with targeted experience monitoring Iranian media to provide analysis and briefing support to a State Department mission. This role will support U.S. diplomatic efforts by monitoring, assessing and interpreting prominent narratives in Iranian media to key U.S. government stakeholders.
The selected candidate will independently conduct monitoring, prepare reports, highlight emerging narratives and commentary, and monitor social media for a high-visibility U.S. government agency. This role may require unusual hours, such as overnight work.
Responsibilities:
• Provide monitoring and analysis of Iranian media narratives and propaganda aimed at global audiences.
• Prepare briefings of key news, commentary, narratives and trends in Iranian media to be delivered three times per week.
• Carry out targeted monitoring of the coverage of specific narratives, news or themes as requested by the customer.
• Communicate with government personnel and respond to ad-hoc requests.
• Ensure accuracy, organization, and efficiency of workflows and administrative processes.
• Utilize office tools and systems including email, spreadsheets, and document management systems.
Required Qualifications:
• Ability to write fluently and concisely in English.
• Strong background in international relations, media, Iranian affairs, or related fields.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and standard office systems.
• Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Possess a thorough knowledge of the structure and functioning of Iranian propaganda.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting the DoD or federal missions in the CENTCOM area of responsibility.
• Proficiency in Farsi.
• Experience working for government entities.
All candidates must provide a minimum of two (2) references who can attest to the candidate’s background and knowledge of media analysis, international relations and Iranian affairs.
