Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Security Automation Engineer to support a growing client in the technology industry in the Raleigh-Durham (RTP), NC area. The Security Automation Engineer role requires working onsite in the RTP, NC area. The Security Automation Engineer role is ideal for a security professional who started in a SOC environment and transitioned into security engineering, with a strong focus on security tool integration, automation, and Splunk-driven security operations.
Responsibilities of the Security Automation Engineer include:
• Design, implement, and maintain integrations between security platforms, monitoring tools, and Splunk to improve SOC visibility and operational efficiency.
• Develop Python-based automation solutions to streamline threat detection, incident response, and security workflows.
• Configure and enhance Splunk dashboards, alerts, data ingestion pipelines, and correlation searches to support security monitoring requirements.
• Collaborate with security analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.
• Troubleshoot integration issues across security technologies and ensure reliable data collection, normalization, and reporting.
Requirements of the Security Automation Engineer include:
• Active Secret Clearance required
• Experience as a SOC Analyst with progression into a Security Engineer, Splunk Engineer, or Security Automation-focused role.
• Hands-on experience with Splunk administration, engineering, or content development.
• Proven experience integrating security tools, platforms, and data sources into Splunk.
• Proficiency with Python scripting for automation, orchestration, and workflow development.
Compensation for the Security Automation Engineer include:
• $120,000 - $145,000 annually
