ASRC Federal Mission Solutions is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems.

We are seeking a Lab Operator to support the development and sustainment of the U.S. Navy Aegis Weapon System in Moorestown, NJ.

This position supports second or third shift operations within a system integration laboratory. The role is responsible for maintaining laboratory readiness, loading and starting system software, operating consoles and simulators, troubleshooting startup and operational issues, documenting system problems, and assisting laboratory users in meeting their integration and test objectives. This is a hands-on, on-site laboratory operations role.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Link, configure and load software builds on laboratory equipment suites.
  • Perform laboratory startup, checkout, shutdown, and shift-turnover activities.
  • Operate system consoles, simulators, and supporting laboratory equipment.
  • Monitor system status and respond to startup, configuration, and operational issues.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting using established procedures, system logs, diagnostic information, and prior issue history.
  • Document system issues, actions taken, relevant observations, and supporting diagnostic data.
  • Escalate unresolved or complex issues to the appropriate technical personnel.
  • Assist laboratory users with system operation and execution of test activities.
  • Maintain laboratory operability, configuration control, and readiness throughout the assigned shift.
  • Coordinate with other laboratory operators, integration personnel, software teams, and test personnel to support uninterrupted laboratory use.
  • Provide clear and complete turnover information to the incoming shift.

Requirements:
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance or other required authorization within the timeframe specified by applicable contract requirements.
  • Ability to work on-site in laboratory environments during either:
    • Second Shift: 4:00 p.m. to midnight, or
    • Third Shift: Midnight to 8:00 a.m.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 0-2 years of experience in lab operations, software integration, system test, or software engineering.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix environments.
  • Foundational knowledge of computer systems, software installation, operating systems, and basic networking concepts.
  • Ability to follow documented technical procedures and accurately record completed actions and observed system behavior.
  • Basic proficiency in Python or similar scripting language.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-isolation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently during assigned shifts while appropriately escalating issues when required.

Preferred but Not Required Experience:
  • Exposure to distributed systems, networked computing environments, or system-of-systems architectures.
  • Familiarity with pub/sub messaging systems.
  • Experience supporting integration laboratories, test laboratories, data centers, operations centers, or other controlled technical environments.
  • Experience loading, configuring, starting, or maintaining software-intensive systems.
  • Familiarity with system consoles, simulators, remote terminals, or monitoring tools.
  • Experience collecting and reviewing system logs or diagnostic data.
  • Familiarity with issue-tracking and configuration-management processes.
  • Previous military, DoD, shipboard, watch-standing, or shift-operations experience.
