Job Description

BTS Software Solutions is seeking a Senior Exploitation Specialist/Data Scientist support to MA VEN, EO and SAR to support Department of Defense IC missions at Springfield, VA.

The Senior Exploitation Specialist/Data Scientist shall perform data analysis via statistical and quantitative methods, develop visualizations to support decision making, and develop software to enable thorough monitoring and management of data pipeline tasks.

What You’ll Get to Do:

Job Duties:

  • Integrate emerging sensors and platforms into existing Maven or Government directed data pipelines. These emerging sensors may still be going through their

experimentation/pre-IOC (Initial Operating Capability) phase prior to final full

operational status. With as much available information as possible on the emerging sensor, develop pipelines and relevant data structures to incorporate new sensor source into existing data workflows.

  • Assess potential differences in metadata, data format, and data structure characteristics in regards to changes to databases, schemas, APis, and other ETL related processes for the ingestion and movement of data when integrating into the existing data operations pipeline

  • Conduct analysis of how the emerging sensor data impacts overall Maven data holdings from the perspective of Machine Leaming model development, test and evaluation use cases, and support for real-world operational use-cases

  • Evaluate and recommend a solution for partitioning the emerging sensor's data into training, test, and validation splits for effective Machine Leaming model development and model performance evaluation

  • Lead the design and application of methods to identify, collect, process, and analyze large volumes of data to build and enhance products, processes, and systems. This position will help accelerate the implementation of the NGA Maven Data Strategy and crisis response to the community. Foster cross-departmental collaboration to enhance workflows and create efficiencies in data analysis and imagery curation that results in greater productivity and efficacy of labeling efforts

    • Lead projects using advanced mathematical, statistical, and scientific techniques and principles to examine complex missions and operational problems and create insights from data

  • Build web scraping algorithms for imagery curation in accordance with NGA Maven data priorities

  • Integrate multiple data and intelligence sources in various formats for imagery curation to address gaps and concerns to meet NGA Maven's priorities

  • Support data analytics, data cleansing, analyst workflow efficiencies, and transformation supporting Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) capabilities

  • Utilize statistical and analytic methods to support answering intelligence requirements and mission objectives

  • Build and integrate analytic tools and algorithms for imagery curation for imagery

    acquisition and chipping

  • Design methods and mechanisms to track, report, and monitor a set of mission specific objectives in order to maintain custody of NGA Maven training data priorities

  • Build software tools to manage labeling campaigns that keep track of unlabeled and labeled data, status of labeling campaigns, and transfer label task information. Tool must support Application Programming Interface (API)-based movement of information between platforms.

  • Build software tools to filter and visualize data geospatially, allow feedback entry, or allow analysis of data. Tool must integrate with existing data management platform

  • Conduct analysis of overall Maven data holdings to support the development of performant Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning models to satisfy operational user requirements

  • Evaluate, monitor, and provide recommendations on ways to partition training, test, and validation splits for effective Machine Leaming model development and model performance evaluation

Required Skills:

  • Experience working with Al/ML technologies and data systems

Experience working with multiple file types including geospatial file formats, JSON,XML, etc.

  • 3+ years of experience doing quantitative analysis, developing visualizations, and

processing complex data to create data-driven insights. This should include experience with data manipulation, extract, transform, load (ETL) procedures, and a working knowledge of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL)

  • Development experience in Python and other languages for data cleaning and

    manipulation

Desired Skills

  • Experience applying Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithms to extract data from documents

  • Experience with enterprise NGA analytic modernization efforts such as SOM, Computer Vision, automated collection, or automated reporting along with data standardization best practices.

  • Demonstrated expertise in math, statistics, and quantitative analysis. Experience with various analytic techniques such as classification, regression, clustering, data reduction, and causal modelling.
