Responsibilities - Design, build, and test advanced measurement systems using optical metrology and machine vision for manufacturing and quality control. - Develop and implement image processing algorithms for feature extraction, classification, and metrology. - Train and deploy machine learning models to enhance measurement system performance and reliability. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and integrate systems into manufacturing workflows. - Lead technology transfer from early-stage development to full-scale manufacturing deployment. - Create clear documentation, including system specifications, operating procedures, and software manuals. - Train engineers, maintenance, and operations teams on system use and troubleshooting. - Optimize and troubleshoot measurement systems using data analysis and field support, both onsite and remotely. - Domestic and international travel (10-30%) required for project support and system deployment. Required Skills and Experience - Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field. - 7+ years' hands-on experience with optical systems, imaging hardware, and measurement instruments. - Strong programming proficiency in Python or C# for data manipulation and system integration. - Proficient in machine vision algorithms: blob analysis, edge detection, morphology, feature extraction, classification. - Experience with machine learning techniques (CNNs, traditional methods) for measurement enhancement. - Skilled in data analysis tools: Excel, MATLAB, or Python. - Familiarity with Halcon, OpenCV, or LabVIEW for software development. - Excellent communication and presentation abilities. Preferred Skills - Advanced expertise in optical metrology (3D measurement, lasers, physical optics). - Motion control systems and imaging platform experience. - Knowledge of statistical analysis and process improvement (DOE). - Familiarity with database management and high-performance computing. - Experience supporting manufacturing operations with metrology and inspection systems.
