Senior RF Systems Engineer (TS/SCI Clearance Required)

Insight Global is seeking a Senior RF Systems Engineer to support a critical Navy communications program in Charleston, SC. This is a senior-level technical leadership opportunity for an engineer who combines deep RF expertise with systems engineering experience and is passionate about developing and validating mission-critical communications capabilities that support national defense.
In this role, you will serve as the primary RF technical authority for the team, leading the design, integration, testing, and optimization of advanced radio frequency communication systems. You'll work closely with program leadership, engineers, and Navy stakeholders to ensure system performance meets operational requirements from concept through deployment.
Responsibilities
-Serve as the lead RF engineering subject matter expert across the program
-Direct the application of engineering principles, theories, and concepts to solve complex technical challenges
-Support the design, development, integration, and testing of Navy communication systems
-Define and optimize RF signal chains, antenna selections, frequency planning, and link budgets
-Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of RF performance issues, interference, signal degradation, and impedance mismatches
-Apply systems engineering processes throughout requirements development, system design, integration, test, and evaluation activities
-Participate in technical reviews including SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, IPT meetings, and technical interchange meetings
-Utilize Python, MATLAB, or similar tools to model RF performance, propagation, and interference scenarios
-Support shipboard and field test events to validate system performance in operational environments
-Develop technical reports, engineering documentation, and customer briefings
Required Qualifications
-Active TS/SCI security clearance
-Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field
-12+ years of engineering experience
-Experience applying systems engineering methodologies on complex programs
-Experience with requirements development, system design, integration, test, and evaluation
-Experience supporting RF communications systems and RF testing efforts
-Hands-on experience with RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and power meters
-Proficiency with Python, C++, or other object-oriented programming languages
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
-Experience supporting Navy communications systems
-Experience with SOSA, CMOSS, MOSA, or C5ISR architectures
-Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
-Technical leadership or project management experience
-Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
