• Administer and troubleshoot Linux systems (Amazon Linux 2023, RHEL 8/9) and Windows Server environments (2016/2022), including system hardening, patching, service configuration, monitoring, and log analysis
• Maintain core enterprise services including:
o Active Directory: user/group management, OU structure, authentication troubleshooting, domain security
o DNS: zone management, record troubleshooting, secure update configuration
o Group Policy: policy creation, deployment, and multi domain troubleshooting
• Use Salt, Bash, Python, and Ansible to automate system configuration, remote execution, baseline enforcement, and repeatable deployment workflows
• Deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise security tools including McAfee/Trellix agents and ePO, Tenable Nessus agents, and BigFix
• Identify, track, remediate, and validate security vulnerabilities across heterogeneous operating systems, cloud environments, and on prem systems
• Apply patches and configuration changes, verify remediation, maintain documentation, and ensure continuous compliance with DoD/IC cybersecurity standards
Core Systems Engineering Responsibilities
• Analyze and refine system requirements, architectures, and design approaches
• Contribute to System Engineering Plans, Requirements Specifications, Interface Control Documents, and technical planning artifacts
• Support system integration, interface definition, configuration management, and verification/validation activities
• Participate in IPTs to design new capabilities and evaluate solution alternatives
• Develop system design solutions, physical architectures, and concepts of operation
• Maintain system baselines and ensure technical integrity throughout the lifecycle
• Assess technical risks, support design and program reviews, and assist with certification/accreditation activities
• Interface with government stakeholders to address engineering issues, risks, and decisions
Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (must already be held)
• IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, GSEC, CySA+, CCNA Security, or GICSP)
• Fourteen (14) years of systems engineering experience with programs of similar scope and complexity
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (five additional years may substitute)
• Strong hands-on experience with Linux and Windows Server administration
• Experience supporting AWS cloud services including EC2, IAM, VPC, security groups, and monitoring tools
• Proficiency with automation tools and scripting technologies (Salt, Bash, Python, Ansible)
• Experience with enterprise security tools such as McAfee/Trellix ePO, Tenable Nessus, and BigFix
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, and system security best practices
• Familiarity with vulnerability management, patch lifecycle processes, and compliance requirements for DoD/IC systems
