Job Description

The IT Senior Consultant Level 5 provides high end technical guidance, consulting expertise, and project leadership across complex enterprise network environments. This role designs, implements, and oversees advanced network solutions using Arista, Aruba, Plexxi, Dell, and F5 technologies, while ensuring compliance with STE/STN, STIG, and security mandates. The consultant manages large scale projects, performs detailed analyses, and delivers expert solutions supporting mission critical IT operations.


Key Responsibilities

Advanced Network Engineering & Integration
• Design and oversee implementation of voice, data, and video communications hardware and cabling across campus wide and enterprise environments.
• Develop customized network designs based on unique customer requirements while maintaining alignment with ITS and industry standards.
• Engineer network interconnections using Arista, Aruba, Plexxi, F5 load balancers, and Dell networking devices.
• Conduct complex site surveys and collect technical requirements to support network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.

Security & Compliance
• Apply STE/STN requirements and STIG/Security mandates to network designs and operational workflows.
• Use Nessus Security Center to validate compliance, assess vulnerabilities, and support corrective actions.
• Contribute to the enforcement of network security procedures and containment strategies for intrusions or attacks.

Network Monitoring & Performance Management
• Monitor and analyze network performance using CloudVision, MFNA (MicroFocus Network Automation), and WhatsUp Gold.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve network performance issues across distributed and international sites.

Troubleshooting & Operations Support
• Resolve complex network, voice, data, and video issues across multiple remote and foreign locations.
• Initiate and execute critical tasks or projects to maintain high network availability and reliability.
• Coordinate with local and external organizations for planned/unplanned outage notifications and recovery efforts.

Leadership, Collaboration & Documentation
• Lead medium to large IT projects, integrating efforts across engineers, contractors, and external partners.
• Work closely with senior IT professionals, customer leadership, vendors, and service providers to gather requirements, execute projects, and resolve issues.
• Develop and update network diagrams, engineering documentation, operational procedures, and customer facing materials.

Consulting & Analytical Support
• Provide highly specialized technical guidance for complex IT problems and enterprise scale modernization efforts.
• Conduct advanced analyses and prepare detailed reports, briefings, and recommendations for government leadership.
• Manage project work as defined by government stakeholders and ensure alignment with mission objectives.


Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (must already be held)
• High School/GED with 20 years of relevant experience, or
• Associate’s degree with 15 years of relevant experience, or
• Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive experience designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and optimizing enterprise network solutions.
• Proficiency with Arista, Aruba, Plexxi, F5 load balancers, Dell networking, and enterprise monitoring tools (CloudVision, MFNA, WhatsUp Gold).
• Experience applying STIG, STE/STN, and vulnerability management practices using Nessus Security Center.
• Proven ability to lead large, complex IT projects and deliver technical guidance at a senior consulting level.
