We're seeking a Database Administrator to join our team in Chantilly, VA, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining the availability, performance, and reliability of enterprise database systems supporting Intelligence Community customers.
As a Database Administrator, you'll collaborate with engineers, developers, and system administrators to optimize database environments, improve system performance, and implement scalable solutions that support evolving mission requirements. Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise database environments to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability.
- Monitor database and server performance, analyze system metrics, and implement performance tuning and capacity planning strategies to support current and future operational needs.
- Perform database backups, restores, archiving, and recovery activities while ensuring the integrity and availability of mission-critical data.
- Install, configure, and maintain database platforms, storage systems, operating systems, and related infrastructure components.
- Troubleshoot database, server, hardware, and software issues, providing technical support and resolving operational problems in a timely manner.
- Partner with engineers, developers, customers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and implement database enhancements, system upgrades, and new technologies.
- Develop and maintain database standards, configuration baselines, Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements, and support technical documentation.
- Evaluate database objects, schemas, queries, and system configurations to improve performance, reliability, and overall efficiency.
- Support change management and configuration management activities by recommending process improvements, automation opportunities, and technology enhancements.
- Conduct software evaluations, proof-of-concept testing, and technology assessments while providing recommendations for infrastructure modernization and future capacity planning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Experience administering enterprise database environments in a production environment.
- Experience with database performance tuning, capacity planning, backup and recovery, and system monitoring.
- Knowledge of database installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting server infrastructure, storage systems, and operating system environments.
- Familiarity with database optimization techniques, query performance tuning, and configuration management best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, or other federal government environments.
- Experience with relational database platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar technologies.
- Experience with enterprise storage technologies, virtualization platforms, or cloud-based database environments.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes, change management, and configuration management principles.
- Industry certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, CompTIA Server+, or similar database or infrastructure certifications.
