Shadowgate Partners is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for a Client.
Position Overview
You will deliver a reliable, highly available platform that orchestrates the microservices of a modernized operational system using leading-edge technologies. The role calls for deep AWS architecture experience, strong automation skills, and the ability to guide both infrastructure direction and team execution.
Key Responsibilities
• Architect infrastructure leveraging AWS technologies and services.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scripting to automate tasks, provision managed services, and build tooling using Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Install, configure, and performance-tune containerization platforms including Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, Docker, and Docker Compose.
• Perform high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, cost analysis, implementation, and complex issue resolution.
• Drive cloud cost optimization by iteratively evaluating spend and recommending savings across AWS services.
• Decompose sprint priorities, generate tickets, and manage team tasking and sprint workloads.
• Track ticket execution while steering the technical direction of the infrastructure to align with program and product needs.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines to automate building, testing, and deployment using GitLab runners and Argo CD.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline plus 12 or more years of professional experience, or 10 years with a related Master's degree; equivalent combined education and experience will be considered.
• Current CWIP (DoD 8140) certification.
• Extensive experience architecting infrastructure with AWS technologies and services.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate at least two of the preferred skills below:
• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure including EC2, Lambda, S3, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, Athena, and Step Functions using Terraform and auto-scaling.
• Understanding of AWS networking principles including VPCs, NATs, and internet gateways.
• Develop and manage GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and ensure system uptime.
• Kubernetes experience with a focus on EKS, ECS, and/or Fargate.
Experience & Education
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 12+ years of professional experience, or a related Master's degree with 10+ years. Equivalent combined education and experience will be considered.
Clearance Level
This position requires an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must hold, or be able to reinstate, the required clearance and polygraph prior to start. Clearance eligibility must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
Salary & Benefits
$248,000 – $272,000 per year, plus an additional 25% in fully and immediately vested employer 401(k) contributions.
