Title: Senior Web Application Developer
Location: Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, DC - Onsite
Duration: 6 months W-2 Contract to Direct-Hire
Clearance/Work Status: Must have an active DoD TS/SCI clearance to qualify
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Web Application Developer to support the modernization, enhancement, and maintenance of mission-critical web applications within a secure government environment. This role will focus on developing scalable, high-performance web solutions, improving legacy systems, and delivering data-driven applications that support operational decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring strong full-stack development expertise, experience working in Agile environments, and a passion for building secure, maintainable software solutions.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, maintain, and modernize enterprise web applications to improve scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Develop modular, reusable, and efficient code using React.js, Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Analyze and refactor legacy applications to reduce technical debt, enhance functionality, and improve code quality.
• Build and maintain dashboards, workflows, reporting tools, and data visualizations that support mission and business operations.
• Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs to enable seamless communication between systems and applications.
• Optimize SQL queries, database structures, and application performance while ensuring data integrity and security.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define technical solutions, and deliver scalable web-based applications.
• Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Conduct code reviews and promote development best practices to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance across development efforts.
• Develop reports, analytics, and actionable insights to support informed decision-making.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve application issues in development, test, and production environments.
• Support application deployments, updates, and ongoing maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with security, configuration management, and software development standards
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 8-10 years of relevant web application development experience.
• Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
• Strong proficiency with:

◦ SQL
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Experience with Git or other version control systems.
• Proven ability to analyze, refactor, and improve legacy applications.
• Experience working in Agile development environments utilizing methodologies such as Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), or Kanban.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience administering or supporting Linux (RHEL) environments, including system updates and maintenance.
• Experience developing applications within secure government or Department of Defense environments.
• Familiarity with application performance tuning and database optimization.
• Knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and modern web application frameworks.
• Experience supporting highly secure, enterprise-scale systems and mission-critical applications.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical efforts and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
