Raytheon's software development team in San Diego, California, is growing! We are seeking a talented and motivated Principal Software Engineer to work onsite.
What You Will Do:
- Lead a Software Team of 10+ engineers, both on-site and remote
- Design, develop and integrate distributed microservices and containerized components supporting early deployable capabilities for next generation C2 architectures
- Perform and lead integration, testing and performance analysis in lab environments
- Document designs, APIs, test results and key engineering decisions
- Drive agile planning, technical reviews and cross team design discussions
- Maintain Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US-only systems.
- Work onsite at San Diego, CA facility
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in Software Development and Deployment, including analysis, design, integration, automated testing, continuous integration and deployment.
- Experience with Java, containerized deployments (including Docker and Kubernetes), DevSecOps and Gitlab.
- Experience working in a team-focused development environment, such as Agile/SCRUM.

Qualifications We Prefer:
- Strong background in distributed systems, real-time or near-real-time processing, or autonomous system software
- Experience with Java, Python, GoLang, and/or container-oriented development (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
- Understanding of networking, messaging frameworks, or middleware used in distributed command-and-control systems.
- Exposure to model-based engineering, simulation environments, or digital-engineering tools.
- Experience working on IRAD, early R&D prototypes, or technology maturation efforts.
- Experience working on Combat Systems solutions.

The salary range for this role is 118,300 USD - 224,900 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
