IT Specialist (Network)

• Oversees activities in the computer/management arena to support system users, assigned programs, and business processes.
• Ensures security compliance is enforced by using approved scanning software to meet Information Assurance Vulnerability Management timelines.
• Evaluates operating system operations to make performance improvements and resolve of operating problems.
• Provides guidance to system administrators on all other Local Area Networks (LANs) regarding network operation and management.

• Incumbent subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
• This position requires Information Assurance Level 3 certification.
• Pre-employment physical is required.
• Incumbent is subject to call back outside of regular tour of duty to resolve computer system problems. On occasion, irregular tours of duty may be required.
• Must obtain and maintain a eligibility for a Top Secret clearance.
• This position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential". In the event of a crisis situation or wartime, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties and requirements of the position.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent which includes 1. Coordinating technical and research activities to support communication and data link architectures; 2. Developing system architectures for operations; 3. Participating in cross-functional teams to resolve interoperability challenges and develop solutions; and 4. Recommending technological advancements to enhance system capabilities. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
