We have an opening for a Lead Technician in our Production Class 7 Clean Room Facility in Goleta, California, that is involved in the packaging of IR detectors for high reliability space, military, and commercial applications. We are in need of a skilled electro-mechanical technician in support of a variety of program processes as assigned by management. The selected candidate will be working with critical dewars and subassemblies.


  • Work with engineering to troubleshoot equipment, tooling and help with new process developments and improvements.
  • Review work instruction requirements and recommend tools and equipment to engineering.
  • May make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.
  • Perform professional work regularly across multiple manufacturing disciplines.
  • Monitor and provide training for new employees.
  • Must wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and strictly follow all safety-related processes, procedures, and protocols.
  • Perform hand painting, spray painting, and touch-up operations on production hardware and components.
  • Lead in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of technical/business support employees.
  • Experience with leadership, team building and training employees.



  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience
  • Experience in manufacturing or operations
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience and/or customer service
  • Experience using general lab equipment like scopes, tooling, and small hand-held tools (tweezers, screwdrivers, etc.)
  • Experience working with ESD-sensitive parts

  • Previous experience working in a technical field, around ESD sensitive parts is a plus.
  • Experience with FOD and FOD reduction methods
  • Experience in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of other entry-level Manufacturing/Operations employees

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 125,400 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
