Job Description



Base-2 Solutions is seeking a DevOps Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy a state-of-the-art technology stack supporting the DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) Modernization program. The role supports the mission to centralize and standardize Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination (TCPED) of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) across the Defense Intelligence Enterprise (DIE). The engineer will work as part of a mission-focused, solutions-oriented, and adaptive team that values inclusion, innovation, collaboration, and professional development. Most work is conducted on-site in Bethesda, MD, with a flexible schedule and occasional remote tasks.



  • Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big data pipeline using a microservice architecture running on Kubernetes, Elasticsearch backend, and Kafka messaging.
  • Enhance, improve, and maintain CI/CD and DevOps scripts and processes to facilitate faster development, quicker error detection, and resilient deployments.
  • Design, develop, and support scalable, redundant infrastructure including physical and virtualized environments.
  • Use Helm to configure Kubernetes deployments to support new feature requirements.
  • Collaborate with System Engineers to design solutions for new features and requirements.
  • Provide technical input to systems engineering documentation and diagrams/models in coordination with SE and Architect teams.
  • Participate in Agile release planning, scrum of scrums, bug triage, design sessions, and other meetings.



  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience with 8+ years in software development, system engineering, or related field; 6+ years of experience with Master's degree; additional years of experience in lieu of degree are acceptable.
  • Possess at least one DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification, e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, Security+ CE, SSCP, CISSP (or Associate).
  • Ability to obtain Privileged User Account (PUA) certification per DoD 8570 policy.
  • Experience with container/container orchestration, specifically Kubernetes and troubleshooting experience with Ingress/Gateway API, Helm chart design/build, Pod disruption budgets, Affinity/anti-affinity rules, and familiarity with external-secrets, ArgoCD, cert-manager, eck (Elasticsearch).
  • GitLab pipeline development experience including integration of GitLab CI/CD components, Code Quality reports, and Code Coverage/Test reports.
  • Knowledgeable in navigating Linux OS, specifically sysctls for Kubernetes environments, FApolicyd, and SELinux experience.
  • Comfortable with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution.



  • Experience with systems at scale.
  • Experience/knowledge of key Agile processes and techniques.
  • Experience with development languages such as Bash, PowerShell, SALT, Python, Groovy, Java, etc.
  • Experience on a production/enterprise system.
  • Experience with Kafka or other message passing systems (AMQP, JMS), Kubernetes monitoring (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana), GPU-based Kubernetes, SALT for deployment automation, and Nexus.



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field with 8+ years in software development, system engineering, or related field.
  • Master's degree with 6+ years in software development, system engineering, or related field.
  • Equivalent experience in lieu of degree with Additional years acceptable.



  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, Security+ CE, SSCP, CISSP or Associate).
  • Privileged User Account (PUA) certification per DoD 8570 policy (ability to obtain).



  • Active Top Secret/SCI
