Job Description

**This is a temporary position with the potential to transition into a full-time role based on business needs, contract requirements, and employee performance.**

About the Role:

The HR and Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless administration of payroll and human resources functions within the organization. This position is responsible for managing employee compensation, benefits, and compliance with labor laws, thereby supporting a positive and productive workplace environment. The specialist will oversee the accurate processing of payroll using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring timely and error-free salary disbursements. Additionally, this role involves maintaining employee records, assisting with recruitment and onboarding processes, and addressing employee inquiries related to payroll and HR policies. Ultimately, the HR and Payroll Specialist contributes to organizational efficiency by integrating HR best practices with precise payroll management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll software.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and employment laws.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in payroll or human resources (e.g., CPP, SHRM).
  • Experience working in the Business Services industry.
  • Familiarity with benefits administration and employee relations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage payroll activities using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Maintain and update employee records, including personal information, employment status, and benefits enrollment.
  • Coordinate with finance and accounting departments to reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support recruitment efforts by assisting with job postings, candidate screening, and onboarding procedures.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations related to payroll and employment.
  • Generate and analyze payroll reports to provide insights and support decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with management to implement HR initiatives and improve payroll and HR processes.

Skills:

The HR and Payroll Specialist utilizes ADP Workforce Now daily to accurately process payroll, manage employee data, and generate reports that inform management decisions. Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential to ensure compliance with legal standards and to maintain precise records. Communication skills are employed to effectively address employee questions and collaborate with various departments. Knowledge of employment laws guides the specialist in maintaining compliance and mitigating risks. Additionally, proficiency with related software tools enhances efficiency in managing HR and payroll functions.

Position Type: Temporary Full-Time (3-6 Months)
This is a temporary full-time position expected to last approximately 3-6 months. The position has the potential to transition into a regular full-time role based on business needs, contract requirements, and employee performance.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a temporary full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Workdays do not include working or conducting business on Federal holidays or when the Government facility is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar Government directed closings.

Travel:

No travel is expected for this position.
