THE WORK:
The GG DevOps System Engineer is in a customer-facing role leading multi-faceted mission critical system integration, testing, and deployment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our satellite communication systems, from integration to deployment, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure software meets user requirements. The following are the primary functions of the position:
DevOps Engineering:
• Design, implement, and maintain DevOps pipelines for C++ or Python applications.
System Integration and Testing
• Develop and oversee the integration strategy for combining hardware, software, and network components into a cohesive system.
• Plan and execute integration and testing activities, including system-level tests, performance evaluations, and validation against requirements.
• Work with integration team to document, track and resolve reoccurring issues and system failures during testing and operational phases.
Debugging and Defect Correction:
• Identify, debug, and correct defects in existing software, utilizing effective troubleshooting techniques to resolve issues efficiently.
Automated Testing and Deployment:
• Implement automated testing and deployment scripts, utilizing tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD.
Collaboration:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including system architects, and project managers, to ensure software meets user requirements and is delivered on schedule.
Documentation:
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for pipelines, processes, and interfaces to facilitate knowledge sharing and project continuity.

• Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 6 years or more of professional experience; or 4 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
•Possess all capabilities as defined by the GG Statement of work (SOW) Appendix B for the USG standard SE labor category level 3.
Technical Skills:
• Experience with leveraging tools such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, Terraform, and Ansible to automate server provisioning, patching, configuration management, and deployment workflows.
• Experience supporting large-scale server lifecycle management, including the creation, maintenance, and transformation of operating system baselines and server configurations.
• Knowledge of Linux system programming and development environments.
Additional Skills:
• Understanding of RF signals analysis or satellite communications system design and theory.
Soft Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $101,000 - $178,135. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
