Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Thermal Engineer with 10+ years of aerospace thermal engineering experience. This role will serve as a technical leader responsible for subsystem and system-level thermal architecture, mentoring engineers, driving analysis methodologies, and serving as a key customer-facing technical representative.

What You'll Do

Lead thermal design, analysis, and verification efforts for spacecraft, payloads, instruments, cryogenic systems, tactical systems, and advanced aerospace platforms.
Define thermal architectures and develop thermal management strategies for complex programs.
Oversee development and correlation of detailed thermal mathematical models using Thermal Desktop, SINDA/FLUINT, ANSYS, and CFD tools.
Establish thermal requirements, margins, environments, and verification plans.
Lead thermal vacuum testing campaigns and support anomaly resolution activities.
Conduct thermal trade studies to balance performance, mass, power, risk, and cost.
Serve as technical lead during design reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and customer reviews.
Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on thermal analysis techniques and best practices.
Coordinate thermal engineering activities across systems, structures, avionics, and manufacturing organizations.
Develop proposals, basis-of-estimate inputs, schedules, and technical presentations.
Interface directly with customers, suppliers, and program leadership on thermal design matters.
Provide risk assessments and mitigation strategies for temperature-sensitive hardware.

Required Education, Experience & Skills

BS degree in Engineering or related technical discipline; MS preferred.
10+ years of aerospace, spacecraft, or defense thermal engineering experience.
Extensive experience with Thermal Desktop/SINDA and advanced thermal analysis methodologies.
Experience leading thermal design efforts through full lifecycle development.
Demonstrated success in thermal test planning, execution, and model correlation.
Strong understanding of spacecraft thermal control hardware including MLI, heat pipes, radiators, coatings, and cryogenic systems.
Proven leadership and mentoring experience.
Ability to communicate technical concepts to engineering teams, customers, and executives.
Active TS/SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications

Experience serving as Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead.
Experience working on national security space programs.
Proposal development and capture support experience.
Advanced degree in thermal sciences, aerospace engineering, or related field.
