Position: VM Engineer
Clearance: Public Trust or higher
Duration: 6 month contract to hire, will convert perm after 6 months
Must Haves:
• 7 years of experience designing and architecting VMware
• Have an active clearance and willing to get a high risk Public Trust
• Provide engineering, administration, and operational support for VMware, Windows, Linux, storage, and core enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Manage and maintain VMware technologies including vSphere/vCenter 8.x, Aria, Horizon, SRM, and vCloud Suite, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, upgrades, backup/recovery, health checks, and remediation of infrastructure issues and alerts.
• Support enterprise networking, SAN storage, Active Directory, Windows Server, RHEL, MECM, O365, Azure, and related platform services.
• Lead infrastructure modernization efforts, including architecture planning, system migrations, cloud readiness initiatives, and automation through PowerShell scripting.
• Apply expertise gained from 7+ years of virtualization and systems engineering experience to optimize, secure, harden, and enhance enterprise-scale environments in regulated settings.
Day-To-Day:
In this role, you will provide day-to-day engineering and operational support for a complex enterprise infrastructure environment, including VMware, Windows, Linux, storage, and networking systems. Responsibilities include managing and maintaining VMware technologies such as vSphere/vCenter 8.x, VMware Aria, Horizon, SRM, and vCloud Suite while ensuring optimal system performance, availability, and reliability. You will monitor infrastructure health, troubleshoot issues, perform patching and upgrades, execute backup and recovery operations, and respond to system alerts to maintain operational compliance. The position also supports SAN storage integrations, enterprise networking, and data management initiatives. Working closely with infrastructure teams, you will contribute to architecture planning, system migrations, and modernization efforts focused on cloud readiness. Additional responsibilities include developing PowerShell automation solutions, conducting security hardening and audit activities, optimizing system performance, decommissioning outdated resources, and recommending continuous improvements to the overall infrastructure environment.
