The Mechanical Products Team (MPT), Shipboard Effectors Department, is seeking Mechanical Engineers for our Louisville KY site in both development and production support across multiple programs.
This Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to expectations in the design, development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principles, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle. Development work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and presenting in design reviews.
- Mechanical design, geometric dimensioning and tolerance, and engineering testing
- Preparation of technical analysis reports and presentations in design reviews.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in working with the Chief Engineer and team leaders.
- Balancing program needs with available program resources.
- Developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product life cycle including design, manufacture, integration and test and design solutions for multiple systems.
- Meet cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product.
- Coordinate with other disciplines in the development of design verification test plans and qualification test plans.
- Coordinate with operations (production) staff in the development of producible designs.
- Occasional travel to suppliers may be required to resolve production issues, technical performance issues or attend critical program engineering reviews.
- Mentorship is expected.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Experience with CAD solid modeling tools and analysis tools
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Leadership experience with small teams (4-6 people)
- Supplier interaction and supplier management experience
- Ability to collaborate in teams or independently.
- Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis, energetics principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development
- Knowledge of Agile hardware development

- Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
