Job Description
The System Engineer Level 3 provides senior technical leadership for complex DoD/IC systems, supporting full lifecycle engineering, cloud architecture, system integration, and enterprise documentation. This role ensures system integrity, scalability, and mission compatibility across hardware, software, and network architectures.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud & Infrastructure
• Architect scalable cloud solutions (AWS preferred) and evaluate customer technical needs.
• Engineer physical and virtual VDI/VPN infrastructures.
• Apply strong network topology knowledge to ensure secure, high performance connectivity.
Systems Engineering & Architecture
• Manage system and derived requirements aligned to DoDAF, SOA, and mission architectures.
• Develop system concepts, physical architectures, interface standards, and operational views.
• Create and maintain technical documentation including SE Plans, ICDs, and Requirements Specs.
• Define verification methods and criteria for systems and subsystems.
• Conduct feasibility studies, trade analyses, and end to end functional flow assessments.
• Participate in IPTs to design new capabilities and support configuration control processes.
Integration, Testing & Technical Leadership
• Provide technical direction for engineering, integration, and testing of complex hardware/software systems.
• Lead requirements elicitation, functional allocation, and system reviews.
• Ensure configuration integrity throughout the system lifecycle using formal change control.
• Support DoD and Government Certification & Accreditation processes.
• Conduct quantitative analysis in reliability, maintainability, and survivability.
Risk & Program Support
• Assess program risks, develop mitigation strategies, and track risks using EVM data.
• Review WBS, work packages, and IMPs for engineering impact.
• Apply current agency and international standards to ensure interoperability and compliance.
Required Qualifications
• Top Secret/SCI clearance and Full Scope Polygraph required — no exceptions
• 20 years of Systems Engineering experience in programs of similar scope and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Management, or related field; 5 additional years may substitute.
• Demonstrated experience planning and leading large-scale SE efforts.
• Strong expertise in cloud architecture, VDI/VPN engineering, and enterprise network connectivity.
