Job Description
- Conduct compliance inspections of activity worksites to identify operational, facility, or system safety and occupational health deficiencies.
- Evaluate and advise on safety and occupational health surveillance and enforcement programs to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and OSHA safety standards.
- Review safety training programs to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and regulations.
- Investigate accidents and incidents causing injury or property damage and hazardous conditions that may cause serious injury or death.
- Determine origin, causes, and/or contributing elements associated with safety and health violations.
- Analyze mishap trends to determine a need for additional safety training for both Military and Civilian personnel.
- Implement/monitor comprehensive ammunition, explosives, industrial, radiation, range safety and occupational health management programs in support of ATEC test missions.
- Conduct safety risk assessments of chemical, electrical, and physical worksite safety hazards and develop procedures to mitigate and/or eliminate those hazards.
- Develop/ implement accident prevention programs designed to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses in support of ATEC test missions.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- TDY up to 5% to field locations is required to support ATEC/YPG and may require extended periods in austere living conditions (e.g. hot, cold, dust, etc.)
- May be required to participate in Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) Training and wear NBC equipment and/or approved respiratory protection equipment.
- May be required (as determined by Commander or his designated representative) to participate in field exercises alongside military counterparts.
- Incumbent must have or earn their Army CP-12 Level 1 Safety Certification within 1 year of selection or acceptance into this position.
- Must obtain the following requirements for Cyber work roles: 1) Foundational qualification requirements within 9 months, 2) Resident qualification requirements within 12 months, 3) 20 hours of Continuous Professional Development per work role code.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
