Job Description
As a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY), GS-0201-09, you will serve as a senior personnel NCO and have responsibility for overseeing and ensuring the accomplishment of work performed in the areas of personnel management and administration. Serves as an advisor to the commander and staff on the brigade human resources (HR) program. Interprets policy and provides procedural guidance to the commander, staff members and individual military members. Assists in the preparation for and executes command level inspections of subordinate units in the area of personnel and administration. Develop guidelines and operational procedures to implement changes to policies and programs directed by higher headquarters. Perform other duties as assigned.
- KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience, education or training gained through military or civilian technical training schools, within the human resources business programs. Must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must have 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Knowledge of, and skill in applying, fundamental military human resource management principles and practices; and standardized analytical and evaluative methods and techniques in order to provide technical expertise and guidance as well as management advisory services to resolve factual and procedural issues within the particular area of assignment. In-depth knowledge of applicable regulations relating to the field of military human resources management; provide regulatory guidance and recommendations on personnel actions. Knowledge of personnel authorizations, unit manning documents, and duty assignment requirements and criteria sufficient to maintain personnel readiness levels. Knowledge of personnel deployment requirements to inspect individual mobilization files, review and monitor the status of subordinate unit's personnel and medical deployment requirements. Experience providing feedback to command for follow-up action.
