HII Mission Technologies Division is seeking a 5th-Gen Simulation Software Integration Engineer to support Fighter-In-A-Box (FIAB) capabilities for the F-22 and/or F-35 synthetic environments. This role supports Modeling, Simulation, and Training (M&S) integration efforts at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center - Nellis (JITTC-N), located at Nellis AFB, NV, in direct support of the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center's Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) team.

As part of an on-site engineering team, you will help deliver high-end Advanced Tactics, Training, and Test capability for Government personnel operating under USAFWC/ACC by supporting the development, refinement, and integration of FIAB software within the JSE architecture. This role requires direct experience with 5th-generation fighter mission systems and is focused on high-fidelity software integration rather than general simulator operations.

Provide on-site support for the 31st Combat Training Squadron's JSE training systems at Nellis AFB. As a member of the JSE Engineering Team, you will focus on the troubleshooting, configuration, optimization, and development of the F-22 and/or F-35 FIAB for advanced synthetic test and training environments within JSE at the JITTC-N. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Support daily FIAB operations by monitoring system performance and ensuring stable execution within JSE.
  • Troubleshoot FIAB issues by reviewing FIAB source code and/or JSE Platform Plugin (JPP) source code.
  • Integrate 5th-generation FIAB mission-system models, sensor models, software interfaces, and avionics behaviors into the JSE synthetic environment.
  • Develop enhancements, resolve defects, and optimize FIAB software performance within distributed or real-time simulation architectures.
  • Integrate FIAB capabilities with other JSE and non-JSE platforms across synthetic training and test environments.
  • Assist with accurately documenting, reporting, and tracking deficiencies related to FIAB and JPP components.
  • Collaborate with Government stakeholders, pilots, and mission-systems SMEs to support reliable, high-fidelity synthetic testing and training capability.

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in software development and software design.
  • Professional experience supporting or integrating 5th-generation fighter mission systems, avionics, sensor fusion, LO behaviors, or synthetic environment representations (F-22 and/or F-35).
  • Experience integrating complex software systems or simulation components in distributed or real-time environments.
  • Ability to modify, debug, and troubleshoot C++ and/or Python source code within simulation frameworks.
  • Experience working with software interfaces, middleware, plug-ins, APIs, or data models used to connect simulation components.
  • Proficiency working in a Linux command-line environment.
  • Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and initiative to troubleshoot, address, and prevent problems on complex technical systems.
  • Current or active Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI and SAP/SAR clearances.

  • Software development experience with FIAB source code (F-22 and/or F-35) or JSE Platform Plugin code.
  • Experience integrating simulation software with external systems, sensors, networks, mission-systems models, or other platform components.
  • Experience with Joint Simulation Environment (JSE), Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC), or DoD synthetic training systems.
  • Background with distributed simulation middleware such as DIS, HLA, or DDS.
  • Prior experience optimizing performance in high-fidelity, real-time synthetic environments.
  • Current DoD TS/SCI clearance or active SAP/SAR accesses.
