TEN Lab Manager (Linux Administrator)
We are seeking a Technical Engagement Network (TEN) Lab Manager with experience in Linux, Splunk, and Ansible Administration to support the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of advanced cybersecurity capabilities in a mission-driven environment. This role supports system administration, automation, monitoring, and infrastructure management activities across lab, development, and production environments.
Responsibilities
• Lead administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems across development, lab, and production environments.
• Manage large-scale configuration management and deployments across Windows, Linux/Unix, macOS, virtualized, and cloud-based environments.
• Support the implementation, integration, and maintenance of new technologies and infrastructure.
• Provide ongoing systems administration, technical support, troubleshooting, patching, and upgrades.
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and automation workflows for infrastructure provisioning and application deployment.
• Configure, deploy, and administer Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform for large-scale automation and configuration management.
• Administer and maintain Splunk Enterprise and/or Splunk Cloud environments for monitoring, analytics, and operational visibility.
• Develop dashboards, reports, and alerts to support proactive monitoring and operational awareness.
• Implement and monitor security controls, including access management, auditing, and compliance requirements.
• Perform backup management, system performance monitoring, and availability management activities.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and storage-related issues, including replication and network-connected storage environments.
• Identify and recommend process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Contribute to the development of technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational policies.
• Apply cybersecurity best practices to strengthen system security and reduce vulnerabilities.
• Manage assigned projects and deliver solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
Required Qualifications
• Active Secret clearance or higher.
• Ability to obtain additional security requirements, as needed.
• 5+ years of Linux Systems Administration experience.
• 3+ years of Splunk administration experience, including log ingestion and platform maintenance.
• 3+ years of experience with Ansible automation (Ansible Core, Tower, or Automation Platform).
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across geographically dispersed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience developing technical procedures, documentation, and SOPs.
• Experience with virtualization technologies and automation.
• Experience administering multiple operating systems, including Linux/Unix, Windows, and macOS.
• Familiarity with security frameworks, compliance standards, and system hardening practices.
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Certifications
• DoD 8140 IAT Level II (or equivalent cybersecurity certification).
Compensation
$60-$70/hour, commensurate on experience and clearance.
