Senior Cloud Data / DevSecOps Engineer
Location: Dayton, OH — Onsite/Hybrid Required

Position Summary: inQ is seeking a Senior Cloud Data / DevSecOps Engineer (OPEN Position to fill) to support the maintenance, sustainment, and minor enhancement of operational software within the Foundation and Integration Collection. This role supports mission-critical cloud-native services, including message bus, logging and telemetry, workflow automation, database management, session management, security marking, and serverless/function-as-a-service capabilities.
The engineer will work with modern DevSecOps, DataOps, and cloud-native technologies to maintain, enhance, automate, and deploy secure software artifacts into the Unified Cloud Architecture through established CI/CD pipelines. Deployments may support multiple security enclaves, including NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS, as well as DAF CLOUDworks or other government-approved cloud architectures.
This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong experience in Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS GovCloud, Terraform, CloudFormation, PostgreSQL, Python, Bash, SQL, Docker, GitLab/GitHub CI/CD, OpenShift, ETL/ELT pipelines, and secure DoD cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain, sustain, and enhance operational software services supporting the Foundation and Integration Collection.
• Support cloud-native platform services, including:
o Kafka-based message bus services
o Logging, telemetry, and observability services
o Workflow services using Argo or similar tools
o Database management services
o Session management services
o Security marking services
o Serverless and Function-as-a-Service capabilities
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines for secure deployment of software artifacts into government cloud environments.
• Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and/or AWS EKS.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, and related automation tools.
• Build, operate, and maintain data pipelines using Kafka, Debezium, PostgreSQL, MySQL, S3, RDS, Lambda, SNS, and related AWS services.
• Design, tune, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora, Oracle, MongoDB, and AWS RDS-based services.
• Support database migration, backup, replication, disaster recovery, and point-in-time recovery activities.
• Develop automation scripts and backend services using Python, Bash, SQL, PL/pgSQL, Node.js, and related technologies.
• Support ETL/ELT workflows, data ingestion, data transformation, and downstream API integration.
• Configure and maintain observability and logging stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Filebeat, Loki, or similar tools.
• Support secure software delivery in accordance with DoD, IC, RMF, ICD-503, NIST SP 800-53, STIG, and continuous monitoring requirements.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, cybersecurity teams, system administrators, mission stakeholders, and government technical leads.
• Produce technical documentation, SOPs, deployment notes, architecture diagrams, and operational support artifacts.
• Troubleshoot production issues across cloud infrastructure, containers, databases, pipelines, APIs, and mission applications.
Required Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Ability to work onsite/hybrid in Dayton, OH; remote-only candidates will not be considered.
• Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in data engineering, DevSecOps, software engineering, cloud engineering, or platform engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS commercial, AWS GovCloud, or classified cloud environments.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, container orchestration, and containerized application deployment.
• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo CD, Argo Workflows, OpenShift pipelines, or similar tools.
• Experience with Kafka, event-driven architecture, message streams, or data ingestion pipelines.
• Strong experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or AWS RDS.
• Experience with Python and Bash scripting for automation, data processing, and operational support.
• Experience developing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar tools.
