Job Description

Duties

  • Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establishes deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies.
  • Determines skills, materials and equipment required to do the work.
  • Participates in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests.
  • Assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures.
  • Instructs subordinates on new procedures or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas.
  • Reviews work in progress or on completion. Makes adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work.
  • Notes and investigates work related problems and independently implements corrective actions.
  • Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies.
  • Sets performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Counsels employees on problems.
  • Takes informal corrective action on conduct or performance problems. Initiates proposals for disciplinary action where needed.
  • Schedules and approves leave of subordinates.
  • Ensures that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed with appropriate protective clothing and equipment being utilized.
  • Maintains production reports and records. Initiates or participates in review and improvement of work methods, organizational features, and the structuring of positions.
  • Performs the non-supervisory work of the function as needed.
  • Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Army National Guard. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).

Maximum Military Grade - CW2 (W2) with date or rank after 03 September 2023

Minimum Military Grade - SFC (E-7)

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates your ability to provide technical assistance and organize assignments for subordinates; estimate materials and manpower needed for specific jobs; read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics and technical publications; and maintain records and reports.

WS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess specialized experience which demonstrates your ability to plan and organize work assignments directly or through one or more subordinate leaders and/or supervisors. Experience reviewing work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines; knowledge of various lines of work performed by the function and associated support organizations and dealing effectively with other people. Experience supervising through subordinate supervisors, or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced aby the ability to communicate, skill at applying human relations techniques, knowledge of general supervisory concepts, knowledge of shop processes; and adapt existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

Education

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
