The Opportunity:
We are seeking highly skilled Force Protection SME to join our team supporting USAFRICOM's Operations, Planning, and Training Support 2 (AOPTS 2) contract. The ideal candidates will play a critical role in enhancing CJTF-HOA force protection, mission assurance, and operational effectiveness for U.S. Forces in Mogadishu, Somalia and other locations. This position involves providing operational advice, planning assistance, vulnerability assessments, and integration of counter-improvised threats (C-IT), counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS), and other force protection challenges. SMEs will facilitate threat information exchange, synchronize force protection capabilities, and support training and exercise activities.
Responsibilities:
-Conduct operations integration to counter improvised threats, unmanned aerial systems, and other force protection challenges.
-Provide operational advice, pre-deployment analysis, and planning assistance for U.S. Forces' combat and contingency operations.
-Execute training, participate in exercises, and develop lessons learned for rotational forces.
-Perform vulnerability assessments and recommend material/non-material solutions to mitigate threats.
-Track emerging technologies and facilitate threat information exchange with stakeholders.
-Assist in synchronizing force protection capabilities across CJTF-HOA, USAFRICOM HQ, and partner nations.
-Support mission assurance, risk management, and physical security services.
-Coordinate and integrate with other elements at Mogadishu International Airport and other posture locations.
-Participate in after-action reviews, hot washes, and continuous improvement of training materials.
-Ensure compliance with Departmental-level guidance, export control, ITAR, and PII protection requirements.
-Provide embedded expertise with deployed U.S. Forces and conduct debriefings of re-deploying personnel.
Qualifications:
Required:
-Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
-Minimum of 7 years of experience in military operations, force protection, defense technology, or related fields.
-Expertise in counter-improvised threats, counter-unmanned aerial systems, and mission assurance.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
-Experience in exercise development, training, and vulnerability assessments.
-Familiarity with USAFRICOM operations and Joint Force structure.
-TS/SCI clearance required.
Desired:
-Experience working with AFRICOM, CJTF-HOA, or other Combatant Commands.
-Background in risk management, physical security, and mission assurance methodologies.
-Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools.
-Experience with emerging technologies (AI, Machine Learning, Autonomous Systems, Quantum Computing).
-Ability to integrate lessons learned and best practices into exercises and operations.
