The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a UAS Systems Engineer to support a Department of Defense customer at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. This position will support Army aviation and emerging Launched Effects initiatives by providing engineering, technical, and programmatic support throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
The successful candidate will work closely with government personnel, engineering teams, test organizations, and industry partners to support the development, integration, modernization, testing, and fielding of advanced Launched Effects and Uncrewed Aircraft System (UAS) capabilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide systems engineering support for Launched Effects and related aviation systems throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support technical planning, requirements development, system integration, test execution, fielding, and sustainment activities.
  • Participate in and lead Integrated Product Team (IPT) discussions supporting program objectives and technical decision-making.
  • Monitor technical performance, program schedules, and engineering activities to ensure successful execution of project goals.
  • Identify technical risks, assess impacts, and develop mitigation strategies in coordination with government and contractor stakeholders.
  • Investigate technical issues, evaluate root causes, and assist in developing and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support the development of acquisition documentation, technical requirements, statements of work, performance work statements, and contract support packages.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering analyses, executive-level briefings, and program status updates.
  • Coordinate engineering activities among government organizations, contractors, test agencies, and external stakeholders.
  • Support prototype development, integration activities, demonstrations, and test events to evaluate system performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Assist with modernization initiatives, technology insertion efforts, and capability enhancements for current and future systems.
  • Provide recommendations for adherence to environmental and safety laws and regulations.
  • Analyze, evaluate and make recommendations regarding design implementation and facilitate coordination of engineering activities on out-of-production systems and major items.
  • Provide technical recommendations and expertise in the planning and assumption of engineering services for UAS System of Systems (SoS), UAS Systems and/or sub-systems, and associated support systems.
  • Plan, facilitate coordination, recommend, and/or provide technical liaison to the system design and engineering actions.
  • Conduct market research and evaluations of non-developmental and commercial off the shelf items.
  • Assist in coordination of S&T innovation and prototyping opportunities.
  • Write papers to secure funding, evaluate candidates and work with the product offices to align schedules.
  • Maintain S&T Roadmap for the UAS Family of Systems.
  • Provide technical SME assistance in support of ongoing Systems Engineering, Architecture, and Technical Standards efforts in critical technology areas.
  • Conduct and participate in survivability study efforts and provide results to S&T leads and product offices.
  • Identify system requirements statutory, regulatory, or policy governance and adjudicate applicability in tandem with Product Office experts.


Qualifications

Required:
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from accredited college or university with field of study appropriate to the field of expertise.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance required.
  • Ability to maintain eligibility for access to classified information.
  • 8 Years Minimum - Experience supporting Department of Defense acquisition, engineering, test, or sustainment programs.
  • Experience participating in or leading Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and application throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify technical challenges, evaluate alternatives, and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing technical reports and executive-level briefings.
  • Experience presenting technical information to senior leadership, program managers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience supporting Army Aviation, PEO Aviation, PM UAS, PM Aviation Mission Systems, or related Army organizations.
  • Experience with Launched Effects, UAS, missile systems, aviation systems, or other advanced defense technologies.
  • Familiarity with Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems.
  • Knowledge of Command and Control (C2) architectures and military communication systems.
  • Experience integrating payloads, sensors, communications equipment, or mission systems.
  • Familiarity with military datalinks, networking technologies, and communication protocols.
  • Experience with radar, electronic warfare, kinetic effects, or related defense capabilities.
  • Understanding of System of Systems Engineering concepts and their application to complex defense programs.
  • Experience supporting rapid prototyping, rapid fielding, Other Transaction Authority (OTA), Commercial Solutions Openings (CSO), or similar acquisition initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) military hardware and integration approaches.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering methodologies.
  • Experience with developmental testing, operational testing, flight testing, or evaluation activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, JIRA, or similar project management tools.
  • Familiarity with applicable military standards, specifications, and test requirements.
  • Active Top Secret clearance or previous eligibility for Top Secret access.
  • Prior military service or direct support to military operational organizations.
