Job Description

Overview:

We are searching for a talented engineer with a robust technical foundation and significant experience with complex systems analysis/design. In this role, you will encounter unique design challenges and the optimization of complex multi-disciplinary systems. You will interact with a variety of technical disciplines and interface with experts in these areas.

Qualifications:

A Bachelors degree in systems engineering, aeronautical engineering, astronautical engineering or similar is required. Degrees in engineering design, applied physics, engineering physics, mechanical engineering, bioengineering, or similar will be considered as a substitute, depending on concentration.

Experience in systems engineering, systems design (of any kind), and/or systems deconstruction (of any kind) is required.

Excellent analytical, design, and critical thinking skills, with a keen attention to detail, are required.

Experience with the Department of Energy is highly desired.

A Masters or PhD degree in the above disciplines is highly desired.

A passion for continuous learning is desired.

Exceptional communication, collaboration, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences, is highly desired.

A TS//SCI with polygraph is desired. A willingness to conduct a full-scope polygraph is required.

A solid understanding of the national security environment from a diplomatic, military, information, and economic perspectives is desired.

Key Responsibilities:

System Design and Development:

Spearhead the development of sophisticated system designs both individually and as part of a team.

Collaborate closely with very diverse teams of experts to gather requirements, conceptualize system architectures, and translate them into tangible design solutions.

Utilize systems engineering approaches to analyze, model, and simulate system behavior, incorporating insights from design-thinking processes.

Iterate on system designs based on user feedback, usability testing, and observations of human behavioral dynamics.

Engineering and Science:

Serve as the engineering lead and/or expert for non-technical teams.

Understand non-technical requirements and shape technical systems to meet them.

Consult with scientific experts in other fields exploring unfamiliar areas of technology, science, and/or engineering as required to inform engineering and systems designs.

Organizational Focus:

Align system design and development efforts with organizational objectives, ensuring that solutions contribute to broader strategic goals.

Engage with stakeholders to understand organizational processes, workflows, and cultural dynamics, and integrate these insights into system designs.

Propose innovative solutions that not only address technical requirements but also support non-technical goals (organizational behavior, branding, visual needs, etc.).

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment where ideas are shared, evaluated, and refined.
