In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Conducting investigations of accidents and/or perform risk assessments to develop methods for prevention 2) Issuing safety and occupational health surveys to identify risk potential; 3) conducting safety and occupational health inspections to ensure they are in compliance with OSHA or DoD guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Education

- Prepares and conducts briefings, meetings, training classes, and associated functions
- Prepares and distributes safety promotional and informative materials to maintain safety awareness.
- Leads or participates in interdisciplinary working groups to support local initiatives, resolves safety related issues, or develops strategies for improving safety performance.
- Serves as project officer for local safety initiatives.
- Reviews purchase and service contracts.

- Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 3 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
