OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE MANAGER

Duties

• Determines requirements for maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction of buildings, structures, utility systems, roads, grounds, and pavements.
• Prepares long-range plans for major scheduled repairs and improvements to facilities and infrastructure.
• Directs civil engineering activities, construction, maintenance, land management, and equipment operation activities.
• Reviews construction contracts, plans, specifications, and drawings for technical adequacy and compliance.
• Coordinates civil engineering activities, facility construction, maintenance, and equipment operation with contractors and DPW organizations.
• Manages engineers and specialists, resolving technical matters and ensuring the DPW mission is carried out.
• Performs personnel management functions, including planning and distributing work, performance management, and resolving grievances.

• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: : 1) planning and organizing maintenance and repair activities for buildings, utility systems, and grounds; 2) inspecting facilities or infrastructure systems to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards; and 3) leading and supervising a team to accomplish facility operations and maintenance projects.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
