Duties

As a Project Specialist (GS-0301-09), you will be responsible for providing overarching support analysis and recommendations on one-of-a-kind and non-recurring projects/programs. Applies appropriate management analysis techniques, theories, concepts, and practices to plan, direct, and coordinate command efforts.

  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE :
Experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE :
Must have one year specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Must have the following experience: providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled; thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management; developing administrative procedures; coordinating, analyzing, directing, and evaluating one-of-a-kind and non-recurring projects/programs and operations; performing work based on broad experience and familiarity to organizations, applicable policies, procedures and regulations, and pertinent precedent, as well as practical knowledge of guidelines associated with applicable laws, regulations and other official guidance. Must have experience assembling background information and drafts portions of response as appropriate; determining actions needed by other staff elements and follows-up to ensure responses are complete and timely, resolves conflicts, and refers only the most significant problems for resolution. Experience implementing procedures for the control, maintenance and disposition of records relating to projects/programs.

Education

If using educations to qualify for this position,

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or

LL.B. or J.D., in a related field

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond a four year degree in a related field.

Graduate Education: Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university.

You must provide Official Transcripts as documentation to support your educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.

ADDITIONS CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
