Duties

As a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-2610-12 your duties are below.
  • Performs operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting on electronic integrated systems composed of a number of sensor subsystems: Integrated Vehicle Health Management System (IVHMS), the Common Missile Warning System (CMWS), the Improved Countermeasure Dispenser System (ICMD), the Night Vision Goggle System (NVG), the Air Data Subsystem, the Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) and Doppler/GPS Navigation System (DGNS), Command Instrument Set (CIS) ; a logic subsystem-- the Multiplex Data Bus System (MUX), the Multiplex Remote Terminal Units (MRTU), Data Link Terminal Units (DLTU), and Digital Automatic Flight Control System (DAFCS); and actuating subsystems--, and the Digital Automatic Stabilization System (DASS), which includes the Stability Augmentation System (SAS) and Command Augmentation System (CAS) and Hover Augmentation System (HAS).
  • Completes operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting of Line Replaceable Units (LRU). Isolates unusual malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, tools and test equipment including automatic test equipment. Solves problems by analyzing installation, circuitry, and operating characteristics of the systems. Adjusts and aligns sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, actuators, servos, computers and other related components. Removes faulty LRUs for shop repair. Installs serviceable components into aircraft and performs total systems alignments in accordance with existing technical manuals and directives. Accomplishes technical manual compliance and modification of components and systems and completes systems checkout for proper operation. Maintains, modifies, calibrates and inspects a wide variety of user test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
  • Completes bench check, testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment, and analyzing of LRUs and shop replaceable units. Uses a variety of test equipment such as automatic test equipment (ATE), oscilloscopes, DTA computer, multi-meters, power-meters, and special purpose bench test sets. Tests and troubleshoots solid state electronic assemblies and subassemblies such as circuit cards, modules, rate gyros, electronic control amplifiers, electro-mechanical assemblies, random access memories, programmable read-only memories and various integrated circuits. Identifies faulty parts and repairs to level authorized. Ensures and certifies operational integrity of various night vision systems, and electro-optical components. Reassembles unit after repair, performs alignment and makes shop checks.
  • Recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, initiates material deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary. Conducts debriefing of aircrews to determine the nature of system malfunctions, then documents all maintenance performed and records information related to the system, LRU's, or shop repairable units on both aircraft and historical records.
  • When designated on NGB Flying Status Orders, serves as member of flight crew for the purpose of diagnosing and recording malfunctions, or otherwise determining maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Guides lower level mechanics in the performance of duties. Conducts on-the-job training on assigned systems and related support equipment and tasks to include classroom instruction as necessary.
  • Processes and accounts for due-in supply assets. Ensures that material and equipment are properly stored, protected and maintained and that funds are not obligated for material or parts without proper justification.
  • Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Evaluations (ORE), Command Logistics Readiness Inspections (CLRT-X), and Aviation Resource Management Surveys. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural firefighting, aircraft handling, heavy equipment operation, and maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations.

    NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires military membership in a compatible military assignment in the Iowa Army National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of this excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

    SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a clearance as required by this position. If the selectee does not possess the applicable security clearance when hired, application must be made within 30 days of the start date. Failure to make application for the required security clearance will result in termination of employment.

    Failure to complete prescribed courses may be cause for reassignment or termination of FTS.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Experience that prepares the applicant to perform the duties of the position.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: WG-2610-12: Must haveexperience in the following:
    • Must have at least 24 months of skill, knowledge, and abilities of the FWS 2610 work at the Electronic Equipment Test Facility (EETF) of an Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD).
    • Competencies and experiences must include abilities and skills to inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, align, modify, calibrate and certify the test stations, and their peripherals, support equipment and associated subsystems.
    • Experienced in using the stations to test, troubleshoot, modify, align, repair, maintain, and certify integrated avionics systems and major components of these systems.
    • Experienced in analyzing performance, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, identifying and isolating malfunctions, disassembles, modifies or repairs, reassembles, and aligns the test stations and their associated peripherals.
    • Capabilities and experiences include work with complex interrelated variables that arise from a mix of computer hardware and software; and, special purpose test subsystems.
    • Experienced in analyzing malfunctions using schematics, logic and wiring diagrams, programming tables, computer program flow charts, software user guides, computer program listings and factory drawings.
    • Experienced in diagnosing circuit operating characteristics using computer query, system peculiar test equipment, and computer diagnostics.
    • Experienced in isolating problems to the failing component or part of a component by using self-test diagnostics, oscilloscopes, frequency meters, signal generators, digital, and differential voltmeters, computer registers and printouts, other special and standard tools and test equipment. Skilled in removing and replacingcomponents or assemblies down to the smallest bit, piece, or module authorized, using special and common hand tools, soldering devices and special electronic instruments.
    • Experienced in modifying and updating support equipment and software according to applicable technical publications. Capable to analyze program data and determine if the criteria is sufficient to provide adequate testing and troubleshooting.
    • Experienced in identifying recurring malfunctions and software deficiencies and determining testing voids and initiating corrective actions by writing and submitting quality deficiency reports, software deficiency reports, or proposed modifications.
