Duties
As an AMMUNITION INSPECTOR, WG-6501-8, you will conduct pre-issue inspection of ammunition items prior to issue; assist in the inspection of ammunition, to include performing maintenance, care, preservation, shipping and storage operations, assuring compliance with SOPs, safety regulations, drawings, etc. during operations; be knowledgeable and responsible for the requirements of all ammunition management documentation; assist in the National Level Ammunition Capability (NLAC) resupply and excess management process as required; maintain general knowledge of ammunition processes, regulations, and inspection requirements; perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to use and maintain tools and equipment associated with the type of work to be done, and to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Experience which demonstrates the knowledge of and the ability to apply safety standards.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : (Must have 12 months) Experience or training handling and the ability to learn how to destroy explosives and toxic materials; follow safety procedures in the handling of ammunition, explosives and toxic materials. Experience which demonstrates the ability to use radial monitoring instruments, photographs, chemical analyses and x-ray equipment.

- NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trail period to assess performance, conduct, agency needs, public interest, and efficiency. Employment ends unless certified in writing that it advances the agencies interest.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must be cleared IAW requirements of AR 190-11 (Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives)
- Must pass a local and national law enforcement files check.
- Must meet the requirements of DA PAM 385-64, other applicable regulations, as well as validation by the ammunition and explosives safety certification board.
- Must complete a Training and Certification Program for personnel working in ammunition operations.
- Must possess and maintain a current state driver's license
- Required to sign a form acknowledging understanding of the Lautenberg amendment to the gun control act of 1968.
- Must be certified in Hazardous Waste Site Personnel (29 CFR1910.120).
