Job Description

Duties

  • Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance within the CAMP and FAA framework, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance UH-72A military aircraft.
  • Performs work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations.
  • Trains, coordinates, and oversees the work of Non-Airframe and Powerplant (A and P) aircraft mechanics.
  • Provides mentorship for those journey level workers pursuing A and P certification.
  • Certifies completion of maintenance tasks of non A and P mechanics and certifies the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft.
  • Certifies aircraft as airworthy before being released for flight.
  • Performs ground checks and assists functional check pilots with in flight functional check procedures.
  • Performs damage assessments and repairs.
  • Participates in mission preparation and recovery operations.
  • Oversees installation of equipment for special missions.
  • Expedites UH-72A aircraft operations to include concurrent servicing, refueling, and/or reconfiguration of equipment for changes in operational missions.
  • Performs preflight, thru flight, and post-flight inspections and scheduled or unscheduled maintenance.
  • Serves as the technical authority to identify and advise on requirements for airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine, and pneudraulic repairs on assigned aircraft.
  • Controls and performs work assignments based upon priorities, workload availability of UH-72A parts, facilities, material and personnel.
  • Observes and inspects work performed by other UH-72A workers work to insure compliance with applicable technical publications, directives and local policy.
  • Maintains UH-72A aircraft under FAA and manufacturer guidelines and conducts inspections IAW Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance publications and special inspection criteria.
  • Plans, develops and conducts proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel.
  • Accomplishes operational tests of aircraft systems and components.

  • If selected individual is in an Indefinite status (Tenure 3) with the Missouri Army National Guard, that individual will retain their Indefinite status.
  • If selected individual is not currently on-board with the Missouri Army National Guard, that individual will be Indefinite.
  • The incumbent must possess/obtain within 12 months of position selection, an A and P certificate issued by the FAA per CFR Title 14, part 65, subpart D.
  • The incumbent must possess or be eligible for award of the appropriate security clearance for this position.
  • The incumbent may be required to maintain NGB Non-Aviator Flying Status and qualified for Class III flying duties.
Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Army National Guard. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).

Maximum Military Grade - CW2 (W-2) with date of rank on or after 03 September 2023

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which has provided you with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories and components; make adjustments and settings according to established specifications; and use hand tools and test equipment.

WG-12 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess specialized experience which demonstrates your ability to certify airworthiness and manage the operational readiness of UH-72A aircraft and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel; and provide detailed technical oversight of aircraft level of mission capabilities and operational readiness which govern the maintenance, preventive maintenance, rebuilding and alteration of UH-72A aircraft ensuring aircraft meet airworthiness compliance as stipulated with the UH-72A Continued Airworthiness Maintenance Plan (CAMP). The specialized experience must also demonstrate knowledge of theory and operation of the aircraft systems to troubleshoot malfunctions and problems, and determine the extent of repairs and involvement of others in expediting the aircraft returns to airworthy status; plan the sequence of steps, research technical data, and select necessary tools, repair parts and otherwise carry assignments through to completion, referring unusual and difficult problems to the supervisor; and spot checks work to establish adherence to instructions and standards.

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
