Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 36 months. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six(6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

- Use the full range of quantity cooking procedures from the common or frequently used recipes to creating new or complex recipes.
- Lead preparation for assigned tasks in one or more of the following work environments: Breakfast, lunch or dinner service Cocktail and other stand-up events; Formal luncheons and dinners.
- Set up of the work area, dining room, and alternate locations with required place settings, silverware, condiments, and other service equipment.
- Creates menus, production schedules and recipes, and determine type and quantities of items required for number of persons to be served and recipe requirements.

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Employee must pass a pre-appointment physical examination and meet established requirements.
- Rotating or shift work is required.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties and occasional lifting of over 50 lbs.
- Must be able to satisfy the requirements of the 26JUL12 DODI 1400.25 V1230, DoD Civilian Personnel Management System: Employment in Foreign Areas and Employee Return Rights.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a US Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF) Driver's License and must be insurable in order to travel to other duty locations.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Government Motor Vehicle Operator's license.

- Physical Effort: Work involving frequent lifting or moving of objects weighing up to 30 pounds (e.g., utensils or containers of food); constant standing, bending and walking, and occasional lifting of over 50 pounds. When operating a motor vehicle, moderate physical effort is required in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 20 pounds, and occasional handling of objects weighing over 50 pounds while loading and unloading cargo.
- Working Conditions: Kitchens are often uncomfortably warm and noisy. At times, cooks are exposed to steam, fumes, and odors from cooking. There is danger of falling on floors that have been freshly mopped, or where food has been spilled, burns from steam or hot foods, and cuts from knives or electrical machines. Cooks are exposed to extremes in temperatures when entering walk-in refrigerators from the warm kitchens. When operating a motor vehicle, works outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading and unloading vehicles. May be subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or when loading and unloading vehicles. Is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents when driving in all types of traffic and weather. The work place is located within a high security underground facility. During National Emergency and Exercises incumbent may be required to stay overnight and multi-days. Position is under Shift Work.

- If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, & that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12
- Employees & family members who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining & paying for such care. Access for civilian employees & their families to military medical & dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only
- Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions
