Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preventing, detecting, and investigating accidents, crimes, and misconduct, apprehending violators, assisting citizens in emergency situations, maintaining order, protecting life, property and the civil rights of individuals, and assisting in the prosecution of criminals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Incumbents of this position must have successfully graduated the required U.S. Army Civilian Police Academy (USACPA), at the Law Enforcement Training Center, or attend this academy within 1 year of hire unless a current approved waiver/exception or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General. NOTE: Must upload certificate of completion if you are a graduate.

- Serve as senior subject matter expert for collision response, investigations, reconstruction and traffic management protocols.
- Develop and implement traffic plans and programs through use of in-depth surveys of traffic patterns.
- Prepare and approve traffic accident investigations and writes technical reports of investigative findings.
- Respond to and investigate emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
- Prepare documents, technical reports and charts statistical tables.
- Identify developmental and training needs of personnel.

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear the Department of the Army Civilian Police (DACP) uniform and other required safety apparel.
- Successfully graduated the required U.S. Army Civilian Police Academy (USACPA), or complete within one year, unless current approved waiver/exception or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
- Incumbent must have successfully completed the Traffic Management and Collision Investigation (TMCI) Course or approved equivalent, or ability to complete within one year of hire.
- Subject to work irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays on a rotational basis around a 24-hour day, 7 days a week schedule.
- Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
- Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004). This position requires the incumbent to be at least 21 years of age.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation. Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 60 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
- Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program.
- Pass initial and annual criminal history background checks TOY travel is occasionally required.
- Required to perform a weapons qualification test and maintain proficiency in assigned weapons and law enforcement associated equipment. Must maintain qualification and/or certification and knowledge of the following: National Crime.
- Information Center (NCIC), Army Law Enforcement Terminal System (ALERTS) and other Law enforcement databases, Expandable Baton, O/C Spray, assigned weapon and chemical protective mask/gear.
- Successfully gain and pass training certification related to police work functions including all DODI 5525.15 requirements; FEMA IS-100, -200, -700, -701, and -800.B IAW HSPD-8 and AR 525-27; HAZMAT Awareness.
- Continued required training: Radiation Safety Training; operating a special purpose vehicles; administering CPR/first aid and other emergency medical procedures and other certifications
