Automated Test Engineer
Job Description
ASRC Federal is seeking an Automated Test Engineer to join the Software, Applications and Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE). The successful candidates will become key members of the development team building Cloud-based analytics solutions for our government customer NOAA. This CoE is responsible for designing, developing and delivering backend solutions and services to our customers as well as our internal growth and execution-focused teams.
This is a remote, full-time position.

The person(s) selected for this role will become part of an enterprise team of software developers that may split their time working directly on customer systems, solving customer problems. As a member of the development team, this automated test engineer will be responsible to use automated test tools like WebdriverIO, Axe, Allure and similar E2E frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress) tools to create and enhance our automated test suite for both end-to-end system tests, regression tests, acceptance tests, 508 compliance and performance and scalabity tests.
Client Overview:
The successful candidates will initially join an existing project team and develop custom cloud-based backend applications for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), The NOAA Chief Financial Officer (CFO) manages the agency's annual budget (approx. $6.4 billion), overseeing financial planning, accounting,, and performance evaluation. The office ensures fiscal integrity through internal controls, vendor payments, and strategic financial policy to support NOAA's environmental and national security mission.
ASRC Federal subsidiaries developed the Financial Management Data System (FMDS) for NOAA to improve the government's ability to analyze and manages its financial and workforce data. FMDS is a Cloud-based visualization and analytics software tool that sits on top of the government's financial system. The system fuses data entered in directly by the NOAA budget community, with data from a variety of disparate back office organizational data sources into one filterable and manageable data set and presents the information through custom visualizations that quickly and effectively allow the user to extrapolate the relevant metrics without assistance from others. The work is in a fast-paced, high visibility, client site environment with regular interaction with all levels of the organization, including NOAA Senior Executives. The team is currently developing backend software solutions leveraging modern technologies and processes including DevSecOps, microservices, RESTful APIs, and AI/ML solutions.

ASRC Federal is seeking:
- Bachelor's Degree with 5-7 years of experience advanced degrees may be substituted for experience: Masters = 2 years, Doctorate = 6 years
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- 3-5+ years of experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or Python programming languages
- Technical knowledge and experience with WebDriverIO, Cypressor E2E equivalent QA automation tool(s).
- Experience in leveraging AI tooling to enhance and maintain automated test scripts
- Experience in a large-scale software testing and verification environment
- Experience with 508 compliance automated testing using frameworks like Axe, Cypress or similar with reporting tool like Allure.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
- Experience with Agile workflow methodologies
- Experience with web-based frameworks such as React
- Experience with automated test and performance evaluation strategies for microservices
- Understanding of cloud based technologies and architectures
- Exposure to working with AWS (ie. codebuild, cloud formation), Node.js, Linux/WSL, CI/CD environments.
- Highly organized and punctual.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-pace working environment.
- Ability to understand and prioritize customer needs.
- Ability to initiate action independently after receiving general guidance/direction.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must have very strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Must have excellent organizational skills
- Commitment to NOAA's mission, and prior experience working for NOAA highly desired.
- Demonstrated expertise in Federal Government Data Science.
- US Citizen able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance Required
