Position Title: Network Administrator
Clearance: TS/SCI
Location: Honolulu, HI
Position Summary
We are seeking a Network Administrator to support the network infrastructure for a DoD virtual desktop environment serving approximately 275 users in the Honolulu, HI area.
Reporting to the IT Site Lead and working closely with the Network Engineer, this role is responsible for maintaining network availability, performance, and security while ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, STIGs, and Authorization to Operate (ATO) standards.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Administration
Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
Configure and manage VLANs, ACLs, routing protocols, QoS policies, and other network services.
Perform routine maintenance, firmware updates, configuration backups, and hardware health checks.
Monitor network performance, bandwidth utilization, and availability; resolve connectivity and performance issues.
Maintain network documentation, topology diagrams, IP address management (IPAM) records, and device inventories.
Support reliable network connectivity for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) users.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
Implement and maintain DISA STIG compliance on network devices.
Support vulnerability scanning and remediation activities using ACAS/Nessus and approved DoD tools.
Enforce network security policies, segmentation, access controls, and port security requirements.
Monitor network activity and logs for potential security incidents and coordinate escalation when required.
Support audit logging, POA&M remediation efforts, and ATO compliance activities.
Support & Documentation
Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for network-related incidents and service requests.
Collaborate with system administrators, engineers, and cybersecurity personnel to resolve complex issues.
Support network upgrades, maintenance windows, change management activities, and capacity planning efforts.
Maintain SOPs, configuration records, and other technical documentation.
Support exercises and operational requirements that may require extended hours.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
High School Diploma plus 2 additional years of relevant experience (5+ years total) and at least one technical certification may be substituted.
3+ years of network administration experience in a DoD or government IT environment.
Experience with enterprise networking technologies including switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs.
Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent enterprise networking platforms.
Knowledge of STIG implementation, RMF, vulnerability management, and ACAS scanning.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification required (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certification.
Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with Software Defined Networking (SDN) and network automation concepts.
Experience supporting SIPRNet, NIPRNet, or other classified DoD network environments.
Familiarity with eMASS and DoD cybersecurity documentation processes.
Experience supporting military exercises or operational environments.
