Responsibilities
- Requires a flexible schedule with no guarantee of hours each week.
- Provide support that increases the effectiveness of supported Departments and Directorates employees.
- Efforts entail American Sign Language interpreting.
- Support in this area will include working with Government civilian employees, contractors and others to promote communication.
- Interpreter work is unclassified but may include PII and/or information of a sensitive nature up to the Secret level.
- Become familiar with the DoD, Navy, and local NSWC PCD policies and procedures for performing the work required.
Qualifications
- Active Secret clearance or (be a US Citizen able to obtain an Interim Secret to start).
- Must be skilled in rapid-fire conversations, providing translation between spoken and sign language.
- Must be able to communicate the accurate meaning of what is being spoken.
- Must be able to translate oral or written language to sign language.
- Possess the ability to make independent determinations concerning accuracy and thoroughness of the translation.
